Campingaz Smart Quickbed Air bed

Campingaz is a well recognised manufacturer of outdoor equipments.  The Campingaz founded in France, develops and introduces camping solution by producing innovative home and garden appliances such as lanterns, barbecues, airbeds and many more. Air beds which are also called as inflatable mattresses have emerged in the market in the recent years and are intended to use for camping, guest use, travelling or as a permanent bed. The air bed it has recently come up with is the Smart Quickbed Air bed.

Summary:

Campingaz Smart Quickbed Air bed is available as single bed as well as double bed. Both these beds are ideal for camping or as a spare bed. The smart Quickbed airbed is quick to inflate and can be easily stored by rolling or folding up when deflated. The beds come in attractive blue colour.

Construction:

The Campingaz Smart Quickbed Air bed Double (product code: 200974) and the Smart Quickbed Air bed Single (product code: 200973) is innovative, reliable and comfortable. The single bed dimensions (L) 188 x (W) 74 x (H) 19 cm and is just enough for an adult to relax leisurely while the double bed measures about 188 (L) x 137 (W)  x 19 (H) cm is more than the size for two adults to rest in peace. The double bed weighs 3.9 kg and the single bed has a weight of about 2 kg.

Smart Quickbed Air bed is constructed with PVC which is highly durable. The internal coil structure in the bed provides good comfort, support and firmness. The thickness of the material is of 0.33 mm for single bed whereas 0.35 mm thick for double bed. Flocked PVC is provided on the top of the bed having thickness of 0.53 mm and 0.55 mm respectively for single and double bed. The flocked surface gives comfort and cosiness on the bed top.

The Smart Quick bed marks an advance on the basic airbed as it has pre-attached pillows. The pillows have useful storage area underneath them and added to this is the unique snap and stay closure system which helps the valve from not popping open in the middle of the night sleep.

Double valve locks:

The airtight system fitted makes the bed leak-free. The patented double lock valves are provided for the beds which prevent air from escaping out and lock it both the ways. Thus the air bed stays inflated for a good period of time. Hence it can be refilled in longer intervals which make it more convenient.

Resistant material:

The PVC used in the construction of air beds is very thick and so punctures cannot be caused easily. The beds are strong and durable while they also have good resilience. The Campingaz Smart Quickbed Airbed is checked by inflating before leaving the factory for any damage. This gives satisfaction to people as all airbeds are tested for leaks.

Repair kit:

Though the beds are tested, at times there is leakage after using them for a long time. Hence the manufacturer provides a repair kit along with the beds. The air bed is manufactured and deflated, by using the tools in the kit and the leak in the beds can be mended in no time. Along with the repair kit, the beds include a carry bag.

Warranty:

The Campingaz Smart Quickbed Air bed, both the single as well as double beds has a warranty of 1 year given by the manufacturer. It is valid for a year from the date of purchase.

Overall View:

The Campingaz Smart Quickbed Air bed ensures peace and sound sleep. The air bed remains durable for long term use on camping trips or even indoors for friends to stay. The airtight system locks air in two ways making it quicker and easier to inflate and is also leak-proof. The best thing is the pillows that come along with the bed while one drawback about this bed is the pump which is not provided with the bed to inflate. However, this bed never lets down the expectation for the price.

Gelert XL Reeded Air bed

The Gelert XL Reeded Airbed (product code: ABD096) is perfect for travelling, hiking, trekking, festivals and camping. Boasting a great design, this airbed gives real comfort in a small pack size.  The XL Reeded Air bed is a product of Gelert, a company that recently felicitated its 35 year anniversary. Based in the small village of Beddgelert, Snowdonia, North Wales, Gelert is a well known outdoor consumer brand with already 100 million camping, apparel and footwear sold since its start. More on the Reeded Airbed to follow in this rather brief review.

Construction:

The Gelert XL Reeded Air bed is such an indispensible addition to the starter set and can actually save you quite a bit of money by not having to purchase the premium ones. Talking on the construction of the airbed, it is built with ridges and if customer reviews are anything to go by, it is pretty comfortable to lie on and soft enough with ample ‘give’ to support and cushions the body’s curves. But there are few who found the ridges to be very uncomfortable. So the comfort level is highly a matter of perception and you need to try out in order to feel it. The outer of the air bed is a durable polyester fabric with strong PVC coating that can last several years of use.

Other details:

The Gelert Airbed sports a nice charcoal colour and gives an impressive touch to the overall scheme of design. You can carry the airbed wherever you go, courtesy its weight which is just 1.1kg and that is pretty light by any standards.

Built in inflator:

This Gelert ABD096 Air bed can be easily inflated using the unique built-in inflator and the process of inflating the airbed is pretty simple. All you need to do is to compress and decompress the inflator pump that is built in the corner of the air bed. The mattress would inflate in no time and the size of the inflated airbed is 190cm x 65cm.

Verdict:

Most camping equipments from Gelert is top class and the manufacturer has made no mistake with this one as well. This comfortable airbed is worth a check out, given its price range. But if you are not contented with the quality of the airbed, you may try out the Gelert Single Flock Airbed which we will review it for you and will be detailed on the website in the days to come.

Intex Classic Downy Air Beds

Intex has brought out yet another Air Bed in its line up with a sleeping surface that oozes comfort and luxury. Now, if you are looking for an air bed which is something quite basic, like for example camping, we imagine that the Classic Downy Air Beds will not be much of an issue. But rather if you use it at home, guests may have some mixed opinions on how well they have slept on it. This said our first impression was that it does not look like a bed and borders on the Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Air bed (check Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Air bed Review) which boasts a more bed-like look. The 40 year old brand with its Classic Downy range has not disappointed many. See how the Classic Downy Air Bed fairs in terms of performance and value in the review.

Features:

The Intex Classic Downy Air bed is marketed and sold in three sizes Twin (code: 68757/E),  Queen (code: 68759/E),  Full (code:687588/E), all in blue colour. Because the air beds are generously sized with plenty of room, you do not need to go for an additional sheet and your bedding should work well on it.  We are pretty impressed with its sleeping surface which is lot more comfy and blissful than a whole lot of other inferior blow up mattresses available on the high streets. So this mattress cannot be tagged as a substitute for any tough inflatable toy. If customer reviews are any indication, it is great for camping and can fit in the tent and fill up real easy. The manufacturer advertises the weight limit of this air bed as 600lbs for Queen & Full and 300lbs for Twin beds.

Top surface:

As with most Intex Air beds, the Classic Downy Air bed is used to convert the mattress. And this does not mean that you cannot use the bed for camping as the surface is both waterproof and quite easy to clean. And more importantly, the quality tested 20.8 waterproof flocked top, sort of a velour-like material covers the top surface of the air bed which forms a non-slip surface preventing  the bedding from slipping and keeping it in place. The Classic Downy airbed features 15 gauge bottom and 14 gauge vinyl beams for comfort and support. The thickness of the mattress is 8.75″ and accounts for that extra bit of soft comfort.

Construction:

Talking about the comfort level of this inflatable air bed, the manufacturer claims that the Classic Downy Twin, Queen, Full size Air beds are more supportive and firmer owing to their ‘wave-beam contouring’, nothing but a series of strips of wave that you can find on the top surface of the bed. These waves can supposedly eliminate bumps, though we have not fully tested it out, to be honest. The vertical beams are close together making it motionless and stable like a coil mattress and the air bed does not lose air too bad. Also, it looks like it will not easily lose the seam and continue to hold quite well. But when it comes to the comfort factor, this air bed will undoubtedly put all the other pull-out air beds to shame. And there is no messy metal rod that will poke you up in the middle of a good night’s sleep and mind you there is no ultra-thin couch mattress as well! This will make a comfortable solution if you need a spare bed too. This air bed passed the litmus test when we found no signs of damage placing it on a rocky surface.

Two-in-one Valve:

The air bed is built with a 2-in-1 valve with an extra wide opening that helps in both easy and fast inflating and deflating of the bed. It features three ends for fitting a number of air input valves of different sizes. When it comes to air leakage, it is barely noticeable.

Valve Pump:

There are some users who complain that they have to put more air in the bed every day or two, but that is not a big sort of deal, given the manual pump that comes alongside the product. The manual pump can take some time to inflate the air mattress and does need some effort, but it works reasonably well. The Intex Classic Downy Air Bed can inflate in about 5-10 minutes with the provided hand pump, but given the size of the bed it can take much longer. You can also use the battery pump on other inflatable beds.

There is a screw on the valve, so if you are blowing up the bed, it will not come undone on you. However, it is a bit tricky to connect with the provided valve as you need bit of an extra hand. So we would rather suggest making use of an electric pump to inflate the bed and then go for the supplied hand pump to obtain the required firmness. By and large, it is not so tiring to blow up the bed as it operates on a double system and therefore it is pretty quick. Deflating the air bed was a breeze. Just pull the plug out and after a bit of squashing of the bed, you are done with the process.

Repair kit:

Though we are one satisfied customer when it comes to the leakage, a patch kit has been included with the air bed and this is something you never have to use it. Thanks to the heavy gauge Vinyl which feels thick to the touch and has the reputation of not developing any tears or rips. We also found it easy to roll them up for travel or storage.

Vinyl Odour:

The only downside to the use of air bed is the strong vinyl odour which is so overwhelming that you need to put a sheet on the air bed to help get rid of the smell. It is also a good idea to leave the air bed in the inflated state for a few days sooner than you need to sleep on it. This air bed cleans up quite easily using water and mild soap, so cleaning is not a big deal.

Warranty:

Intex gives you no warranty protection for this air bed (and no disappointment here as their air beds have little if any warranty protection).

Verdict:

Though we love a lot of things about the air bed, the process of deflating the Classic Downy Puncture Resistant Air Bed is no better than the Coleman’s which takes just 1 minute for it. The big plus of course is the inclusion of a better air pump compared to the Coleman’s. Most air beds from Intex can go with automatic pumps and are also self-inflating, but not this one. It does lose a little bit of air after 2 -3 days, but you do have the air pump that comes to the act of refilling it, so no problem here. Unless you leave it out and keep it inflated all the time, this Intex air bed is more trouble than its worth. However our recommendation is not essentially against Intex.  It is only fair we say that on the whole the air bed gives good value for your money, given its price which is dirt cheap. Well for a short camping trip, it may be okay, but you have every reason to spend some extra bucks if you are looking for something of premium quality, particularly for use as a guest bed.

Kampa Airlock Junior Air Bed

If you are looking for a suitable kids air bed for sleeping in the awning or camping holidays, then look no further as you got the Kampa Airlock Junior Air Bed with high sides to stop young children falling off bed. This children’s air bed is perfect if your child has developed an aversion towards sleeping on the cot or if he or she still makes use of a travel cot when staying away from home. Whatever be it, the Airlock Junior Air Bed will be a huge hit at home and you will come to love its design features which will be dealt with sin this review.

Design features:

The Kampa Airlock Junior Air Bed is a nice size and proves to be very comfortable for children aged 3 and above. However, it is not suitable for use by children under 36 months. If your child feels that the travel cot is too big for sleeping on it, then he or she will be excited with this air bed. The air bed comes in two eye-catching colours – Bumper blue & Candyfloss pink. Talking about the comfort level of the air bed, it is built with a non-slip, luxurious top surface that is flocked, nice and smooth, guaranteeing utmost comfort for hikers and junior campers by helping them stay in place all night. This flock effect also prevents the cold feeling that non-flocked air beds seem to have, thereby producing a home feeling wherever you may be. The air bed features PVC construction that is puncture resistant making it highly long-lasting and durable and this means you can have total peace of mind.

Airlock one way valve system:

Another impressive feature of this Kamba Kids Air bed is the unique airlock one way valve system that guarantees leak free operation, making the process of deflation and inflation pretty easy and quick. You will also have no trouble transporting and stowing the air bed away when not in use.

Retaining cushions:

As a matter of safety, the Kampa Airlock Junior Bed is build with raised sides so that your child does not roll off in the night. This useful design feature also helps the child feel really secure, so that he or she sleeps very well in it. When it comes to inflating the air bed, you need to pull the nozzle out and it pushes efficiently flat after inflation. The air bed is designed with a large outlet that could expel in seconds

Repair kit:

The air bed also comes with a repair kit, if anything unfortunately does happen and you can  have it patched up in few seconds.

Cleaning is a breeze:

Though cleaning the air bed is no problem, make sure you make use of a mild detergent and water for the same and never use any strong cleaners or solvents.

Verdict:

The air bed measures a generous 150cm (length)/120cm (internal length) x 95cm (length)/65cm (internal width) in size which makes it ideal for use both indoors and outdoors. Just make sure your child does not stand or bounce on this air bed when it is inflated as it may cause the seams to burst. To put things in a nutshell, it is a fabulous air bed for kids, but make sure you restrain your child!

AeroBed Classic Raised Air Beds

All air beds of AeroBed have the comfort and conveniences of a regular bed. An award winning brand, Aerobed was able to create a wide, new range of air-filled mattresses that are designed and built to last for several years.  The whole concept of the manufacturer is just not the thing that the air bed comes with an electric air pump which is permanently fixed on the top and stitched, but the advantage of releasing the air within few minutes, folding it up and storing away rather easily and quickly into its very own small carry bag or so AeroBed will have one believe. To some extent, this also suggests with the air, the potential risk of allergies caused by harmful dust mites that you can normally find in regular mattresses is reduced. So, when you have guests calling on you, the Classic Raised Air bed from AeroBed would seem to be quite good at the point of time, as you’ll never learn who is suffering from allergies nowadays.

Design features:

The design of the AeroBed Classic Raised Air bed is pretty fuss free,  though the original floor design with no raised valence allows you to easily stub your foot on the motor that you can find at the bottom of the mattresses as well as the fact that pillows could tend to fall off, similar to most inflatable beds. There is no actual head board which is fitted to pillows to prevent the pillows falling off.  But this obviously remains to be a certain fault in the design that the manufacturer can actually fit in its future models to better actual use instead of the comfortable rest it guarantees. The bottom and top chambers inflate together to offer you elevated height and excellent comfort.

Construction:

The unique construction of the air bed helps eliminate pressure points and gives you a healthy spinal alignment. Also, you can feel the bed solid and stop air moving from one side of the air bed to the other when you lie down on it. The AeroBed Classic Raised Air bed is constructed of strong thick, high intense PVC and we have no sort of doubt whatsoever to think otherwise. The air bed certainly did not reveal punctures and has lasted general use and abuse, obviously with no form of dents or scratches appearing in the rubber. Therefore all the advertising showing a couple of wrestlers, steam rollers and even a classical ballet dancer working their bit of magic on the bed has clearly paid rich dividends.

Adjusting the comfort:

The Raised Air bed is built with an adjustable comfort control that helps you adjust the firmness of the air bed simply at the touch of a button enabling the right spinal alignment and a good night’s sleep. Also, there is not much difficulty while setting up the bed. While it is pretty feather light after you inflate it, moving the inflated bed could be slightly frustrating when you consider the original weight not supported by the main motor that is permanently fitted into one of the sides of the bed itself.
In the case of a double air bed, you need to face the arduous task of simply more than 9kg of transferring or carrying the sack before you actually take the bed out of your carry bag and lying pretty flat on the floor. As mentioned by the manufacturer, you can plug the 6m cord into the electrical socket pretty easily, turn it on and marvel at it as this bed loosens itself and begins to fill with the air. You may even sleep on the Aerobed while it’s deflated.

Perhaps, this could be because of the feature that the bed’s exhaust channel is not properly locked and there is a big opening, somewhat the size of an exhaust hole of the car that comes with a pretty thickish hinged PVC that is built on the exterior surface in the other end of the bed mattress that you have to lock before it could properly inflate. While you can find the bed’s exhaust channel nice and slimy on the exterior, it could a bit fiddly to let go once the Aerobed is prepared to be packed away once again and shows jagged plastic found on the interior and this you must be careful as it may hold your hand. Though it is possible to alter the firmness of air that is contained with the air bed, there is a measure of the air that can be pumped into the bed through the remote control, particularly during nights. At times, the air bed seems to be deflating, but not much and it is only after this, when it comes to storing the air bed away that you find it bit troublesome.

Handy remote control:

Once you are plugged in, there is a useful remote control having a button which can be removed from the Aerobed’s motor and hence activated. This said, it is definitely practical to pump the air bed up while you are still lying in it, though you can simply push the button while you are standing up and anticipating the air bed to go up, though surprisingly the motor was fairly noisy; it can however inflate in less than 3 minutes waiting time. There are obviously no bumps and air leaks. It deflates pretty quickly in less than one minute and you can easily roll it up during the day without bothering about pumping and can be kept ready for use the next time.

Performance:

The most impressive thing about the air bed is that when you inflate it, it becomes very light for sliding across your floor. Do not try this when the air bed is not inflated as you will find its weight a certain drawback and it may turn out to be cumbersome unless or otherwise it’s inflated initially before you move it to the desired spot. While we have tried out a number of air beds in the past, the AeroBed Classic Raised Puncture Resistant Air bed is quite a comfortable bed to lie on and the bed’s construction is like a standard spring mattress with pocket that you may find on the seat fasteners made of leather you may find on regular mattresses. You can feel these if you do not attach the exclusive cover of Aerobed and simply go for a proper bed sheet.

Usually, you will find the classic range of Aerobed pretty comfortable to lie on, but if you are a tall person, you will find that it lacks a raised part for your pillow that will fall off the edge. This means the air bed is no superior to a regular bed that lacks raised part where your pillows go. Remember that you should place the Aerobed at the side of a wall that will offer you a pillow sort of headboard. These air beds can be made use of as an orthopaedic bed mattress and these beds offer you a similar feel, possibly because it has air springs. You will not slip or slide off the mattress as all the coils feature even sides with the same quantity of air providing total support. The classic models of the Aerobed like the double air bed can withstand up to a weight of 295kg.

Hypoallergenic cover:

The Air bed is built with a velvety, plush surface for increased comfort. There is also an optional mattress cover and valance. The manufacturer claims the cover to be 100% hypoallergenic and you can fit the cover easily through the elasticised sides in the same fashion like a double mattress cover, while at the same time, it is not padded. The cover has the name of the brand adorned all over at angles. Hypoallergenic or not, you may tend to sweat badly and therefore you have to put another cover on top of it to prevent the heat building up while you are sleeping. You will also be supplied with two ribbons on both sides of the cover to make sure that it does not come off while you are using the bed. If you sniff new plastic smell, it is suggested that you air the blown up air mattress for a couple of days before you start using it.

What we do not like:

There are certain things that we do not like, first is the issue of weight. Elderly people may face a bit of difficulty rolling up the bed and restoring it into the bag supplied. The air bed weighs roughly 8-9 kg, courtesy the design innovation that you have the motor at the mattress’s bottom which is fixed together with the help of snap fasteners. This makes it compact enough to put the product back into the bag provided by the manufacturer. Many customers have had the trouble of rolling it up and restoring the bed into the carry bag provided because of the bulky and heavy bag. This means if you do not roll up the bed from the motor’s end, you will find it that it will not accommodate into the bag it was built for.

In any case the storage bag can fit the extra top elasticised cover through and that is a bit of saving if you take the bed for nights away and even by simply pushing at it. The bag may also include an additional pillow if you squeeze it into the sac. The carry bag is completely wash proof though not completely and also it does not come with a shoulder strap that is easily adjustable. The inclusion of which would have helped you reduce the carry strap and make you carry it as a regular shopping bag. These air beds do not include an extra pump and this would have pretty useful for hiking and camping. Nonetheless, we felt the entire idea of the classic range of the brand is the little thing that it comes with an electric air pump. Besides, you can go for an air bed which features a manual air pump anyway. Lastly, the noise of the air pump can be pretty high and it screams out as soon as you activate it.

Current prices:

There are 3 sizes available in the classic range of Aerobed namely the Classic Raised King (code: 55913EC), Classic Raised Double Cover (code: 104400O) and Classic Raised Single Cover (code: 104400P). The single beds are sold online around £50, while the raised double king is now available for £140. The floor level double sized air bed can be purchased at just under £100 or may be slightly lower if you search online.

Manufacturer warranty:

These air beds carry a manufacturer’s warranty of one year against manufacturing faults from the original purchase date.

Verdict:

The AeroBed Classic Raised Air beds can inflate quickly and easily and if you are someone who is used to the traditional style air bed in addition to a footpump and of course the sheer luxury of substituting the 10-15 minutes of manual labour with simply 30 seconds of pushing a button down. The air bed is a much better solution than a sofa bed for occasional use and obviously they are much cheaper. You will find them great for camping and there is no problem with the air bed feeling light and obviously you can nearly make use of it like a main bed. Small and convenient to store, quick to blow up with the advantage of coming with its own inflator, the classic raised air beds give you a temporary spare bed solution when you need the most.

Campingaz Quickbed Be-Leaf Double Air Bed

Phthalate free Air beds make for an environmentally friendly bed, making it kinder to you and the environment. The Quickbed Be-Leaf Air bed is another Phthalate free Air bed in the product line-up from Campingaz.  In a strikingly vibrant colour and duo-colour design, the Be-Leaf Air bed is a perfect blend of style and high performance.  Continue reading the review to check out whether the air bed is worth a buy.

Design features:

The Campingaz Quickbed Be-Leaf Double Air bed (Product code: 205077) is a brand new design and comes with a duo colour design that makes it all the more exciting. An impressive feature is that the air bed is built with a flocked surface at the top which is very soft to the touch and forms an excellent sleeping surface. This simply breathes comfort and convenience. The air bed is built of an internal coil structure that gives you greater firmness, strength, comfort and enhanced stability. This means you are assured of a good night’s sleep wherever you are. The double dimensions are great for two adults and with the supportive coil structure, the air bed offers a firm supportive mattress for each user.

Patented Airtight system:

All Campingaz’s air beds are built with a patented Airtight system and the Be-Leaf Phthalate free Air bed is no exception. This Airtight system comes as standard with Double Lock valves that could lock in air both ways to make sure it forms a leak free seal for the life of the mattresses. We also found that the air bed stays inflated for longer with an appreciable reduction of air loss. Even the time take to inflate and deflate is considerably less.

Phthalate free:

The selling point of the air bed is of course the fact that the air bed is free of phthalates, removing any nasty plasticizers. Campingaz is working closely with BASF, one of the major chemical companies in Germany and in together they have come up with the air bed making use of Hexamoll DINCH, a new phthalate free plasticizer. As a result, PVC manufactured out of this product meets recognised standards for sensitive applications and children’s products.

Puncture resistant PVC:

The Quickbed Be-Leaf Double Air bed is made of heavy-duty, PVC that is quite strong and durable. This means that the Campingaz air bed is more puncture resistant than the competition and of course you are assured of the best finished product.

Repair kit:

Though the air bed is made of PVC and ensured of durability, you are provided with a puncture kit that helps you repair the bed should the worst occur in the same way as a padding pool or air bed.

Dimensions:

Weighing 2.9 kg, the Quickbed Be-Leaf Double Air bed measures 188 cm (L) x 74 cm (W) x 19 cm (H).

Warranty:

The double air bed carries a manufacturer warranty of 12 months from the original date of purchase.

In a nutshell:

This Campingaz air bed is ideal for home guests or camping and can be used both indoors and outdoors. The best part of the inflatable is that it will not leak; therefore you can enjoy your leisure time with a little more peace of mind.

The 2-in-1 Double Inflatable Air bed from Intex is great for visiting friends, camping, dorm rooms and more. This double inflatable air bed combines the comforts of a bed and easy transportation capabilities. We put in a lot of research into this air bed and here is a review of some of the features and benefits that come with the Intex Air bed.

Two double beds in one:

The Intex 2-in-1 Twin, Queen Size Air bed may certainly not be the cheapest in the market.  But it could split into two air beds with its unique DUO COMFORT feature. Two beds or one, it is perfect for all your needs and should ideally suit two adults and a child. This means that you can use this double air bed both as a double air bed as well as two separate double beds. Available in a nice, simple, plain khaki colour, the air bed is quite light and comfortable and is still better than double cheaper air beds.

Heavy duty zipper:

The Intex Air bed is a high-rising, self-inflating air bed for your guests and family members to sleep in comfort. The air bed comes with a 360 degree, heavy-duty zipper that helps you to transform one elevated air bed into two standard height airbeds for more guests. We found the air bed quite comfortable with both sections zipped together, but perfectly sufficient and what you get is double the sleeping surface when it is zipped and separated. This makes the Intex air bed ideal for camping, sleep-overs and on-the-road trips.

Waterproof flocked top:

The Intex 2-in-1 Self Inflating air bed is built with plush, waterproof flocking on the top that offers a more luxurious sleeping surface for a cosy night’s sleep. To be more precise, it is a 20.8 gauge (0.53mm) waterproof flocked top having 15 gauge (0.53mm) vinyl beams and bottom, duly quality tested by the manufacturer. An impressive feature of this air bed is that it has a dual wave beam construction making the bed more stable and comfortable, particularly when used by two people. This feature also accounts for a uniform sleeping surface.

Intex 2-in-1 valve:

The Intex Double Inflatable air bed has a 2-in-1 valve that has extra-wide openings so that you can easily inflate and deflate it. And when you are ready to pack the item up, you can just open the 2-in-1 valve to release the air, roll and fold it and store the item away neatly in the storage bag provided. When the air bed is left as a twin stacked one, you can sleep on it all day long. There was no appreciable air loss once you pump it up which is a plus. You can deflate the bed easily and pack it up quite well as it is really light and folds compactly for easy storage. Do note that you do not have an included pump and yes, it does require a top up pump everyday, but it is a small price to pay anyways. The Intex 2-in-1 Double Inflatable Air bed makes use of conventional mattresses sizes for more sleeping area and fits bed sheets really well.

Available sizes:

There are two standard sizes available with the Intex bed namely Twin size bed (product code: 66750/E) weighing 300lbs and measures 39″ (W) x 75″ (L) x 18″ (H) (99 cm x 191 cm x 46 cm). The Queen Size bed (product code: 66754/E) weighs in as much as 600lbs, measuring 80″ (W) x 60″ (L) x 18″ (H) (203 cm x 152 cm x 46 cm).

Not machine washable:

Washing the Intex air bed in your washing machine may cause damage to the washing machine as well as the bed. You should wash the bed using only mild soap and water with a sponge or soft bristled brush and air dry only after a thorough rinse.

Manufacturer Warranty:

The Intex air bed comes with no warranty and that is a bit of a disappointment, but make sure you avail the 30 day return policy from the date of delivery if Intex’s return policy conditions are being met.
Summary:
Nice and firm, the Intex 2-in-1 Double Inflatable Air bed seems to inflate quickly. It is generously spacious and try sitting on the edge of it to put your shoes and socks on! The pros however far outweigh the cons and with Intex never letting you down, it is excellent value for the money.

Vango Single Flocked Air Bed

Sometimes you just need a simple air bed. No bells. No whistles, simply a reliable air bed. The Single Flocked Air Bed from Vango is your answer. We spend some time researching on this Air bed and there are quite a lot of positives. Most products of Vango including Tents, Sleeping Bags, Rucksacks and other accessories are trusted by expedition leaders in the harshest of conditions. Vango has also won several Industrial awards for some of its products that deliver a high level of comfort and security to its customers.

Design features:

The Vango Single Flocked Air Bed is great for unexpected guests who like to sleep gazing the stars in comfort. This air bed comes with a strong vinyl coil beam construction for toughness and rigidity. The heavy duty, thick, puncture-resistant vinyl construction could avoid any type of joint problems and keeps your body posture right. The design is perfect for people with bad back as they get to feel the comfort of the air bed because it can conform to the shape of your body nicely. This makes the air bed more than handy for indoor stay overs or outdoor use in a tent. This air bed comes with a soft flocked upper surface that will help the body retain its natural heat without turning out sticky and hot like when lying on a traditional air bed.

Double safety valve:

The self-inflating Air bed comes with a double safety valve that prevents the escape of air. As we may know that it can lock in air two ways, the amount of air loss after several weeks of use is considerably less compared to competition. A leak-proof performance guarantees greater life for the bed mattress. The double safety valve can inflate in 20 seconds. But the fact that the product does not include an inflation pump comes as a certain disappointment and this means that it has to be purchased separately. There is also a Freeflow plug integrated for quick deflation of air.

Repair Kit:

A repair kit is provided alongside the product for an on the spot maintenance and will come in handy should you have any puncture and make repairs with the air mattress.

Other features:

Weighing 1.6kg, the length of the air bed is 194 cm with the width and depth of the bed being 78 cm and 25 cm respectively. The strikingly attractive military green colour is matched to the interior of the manufacturer’s best selling family tent range. The material should be wiped clean only but it’s not machine washable.

Package Contents:

1 x Vango Single Flocked Air Bed
1 x Repair Kit

Manufacturer Warranty:

The product is covered under a manufacturer warranty of one year and does not include poles, malfunction of any component or fabric due to improper or unreasonable usage or maintenance and accidents, damages owing to excessive winds/weather, natural degradation due to sunlight or improper re-packing. However the warranty covers all manufacturing defects of the fabrics, workmanship and parts. No substantial loss may be claimed under this warranty. This warranty in no way will affect your statutory rights.

Verdict:

The Vango Single Flocked Air Bed is the ideal solution if you want a reasonably priced but quality single air bed and this flocked air bed will undoubtedly offer a cosy night‘s sleep whether at home or in a tent.

Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Air bed

If you are looking for an air bed that mimics the feel of a real bed then the Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Air bed from Intex should be on the top of the list. The Airbed has featured in our website this week because of the many positive reviews it has received from the customers. We did not fail to do a smoke test on the air bed to validate its positive points. The following review is an account of the various features that we found useful in terms of comfort and performance.

Airbed from the world of Intex:

A better way to start the review is to learn something about the manufacturer. Intex has earned a reputation of offering quality Home and camping Airbeds at reasonable prices. Their constant development efforts and testing of airbeds with nearly 40 years of operating experience have produced quite a number of airbeds, the most popular of which is the Supreme Air-Flow Airbed.  The Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Airbed (Product code: 66961/E) is more than just an inflatable mattress.  The unique engineering technique adopted by Intex gives you a stunning level of comfort for a luxurious sleep.

Construction:

The top and sides of the bed mattress is made of special network of interconnected air cells that allows air to build smoothly and gradually over the entire sleeping surface of the bed. The large air chamber gives the sleeper the much needed comfort and stability creating a soft cushion, a remarkable departure from several other inflatable beds. The top of the mattress is flocked with a 20.8-gauge waterproof surface that is quality tested with 15-gauge vinyl beams and 16-gauge super-tough sides and bottom for firmness. The gauge of the coils is one factor which determines the toughness and support of the airbed. The 15 Gauge I-Beams is a special construction that has several numbers of I-beams and coil beams distributed for a highly tough but lightweight bed. In simple terms, it has I-beams in the bottom chamber and coil beams in the upper chamber surrounded sideways by a layer of interconnected air cells.

Raised height of 20 inches:

The Queen-size Supreme bed mattress at a dimension of 60 by 20 by 80 inches (W x H x D) is raised 20” (51cm) from the floor for convenience when fully inflated, making it pretty taller than other inflatable mattresses. This allows you to make it like a regular bed with fitted sheets and blankets. Another advantage of the raised height of the airbed is that it can insulate you from the effects of cold floor and it gets much easier when you have to get into and out of the bed. The website of Intex also lets you to download the product manuals and videos, should you have any doubts or clarification regarding the set up.

Dual chamber structure:

One of the most impressive features of the Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Self inflating Air Bed is the dual chamber construction. When you move on the bed, your partner’s movements do not transfer in a fashion which is common on other airbeds. And just to add to this, if you sit on the sides of the bed and in the middle, the sides will not collapse but stay firm to its shape. We actually love the split chamber design that lets the top sheet to tuck between the top and bottom of air chambers giving you a somewhat closer experience to a bed mattress. The integration of a thin mattress pad under the sheets will help toward eliminating the ‘air mattress’ feeling.  Some of the people who have slept on it described that they found the airbed as comfortable and relaxing as a traditional box spring and mattress.

Easy to inflate:

The best claim is that the Air-flow bed is fairly easy to inflate and deflate, courtesy the in-built, recessed 110-120 AC high powered electric pump which can inflate the bed in a mere 3-1/2 minutes. This means you do not have to struggle with foot pumps or tiring hands or search around the garage for your detached electric pump. And should the bed feel a bit soft or firm, the comfort level of the bed can be customized with just the touch of a button. The other day we added a little more air with just the flip of the switch.  Interestingly, the cosy flocked fabric mattress accepts standard queen sheets perfectly. The sheets also fit neatly over the pump and the cord stores compactly. The mattress comes with an AC power cord that you can keep it plugged in for easily pumping it up and down. Just make sure you also have an inverter with you.

Alternate Size & Weight capacity:

The airbed also comes in Twin size with a dimension of 75″ (L) x 39″ (W) x 20″(H) of weight capacity around 300-lb in case you prefer a smaller version of the airbed.

Box Contents:

Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Airbed (plus Built in Electric pump)
Duffel shoulder bag
Instruction Manual

Storage & Transportation:

The Airbed comes in a light grey colour with a load capacity of 600 lbs (273 kg). While the built-in pump makes inflating and deflating the bed a breeze, the bed folds down itself compactly and goes into the Duffel shoulder bag for protective storage between uses.

Use & Care:

The bed has to be washed using only mild soap and water with a sponge or soft bristled brush. It should only be air dried after a thorough rinse. Never submerse the bed into the water. Sometimes, water saturation may be harmful to certain materials used in the manufacture of the bed. Washing the airbed in the washing machine may cause damage to the bed as well as the washing machine.

Manufacturer Warranty:

The Intex Queen Size Airbed has no warranty (bit of a disappointment!), but comes with a 30 day return policy from the date of delivery if the manufacturer’s return policy conditions are being met.

Verdict:

Though we are a satisfied customer, the airbed seems to have a few negatives, one of which is there is noticeable air loss during the night, particularly if two people sleep on it. Therefore, you need to pump it slightly each day you use the bed. Another complaint is that it tends to be slightly cold at times and one has to put some sort of insulator between the air mattress and sheet, though it is raised to a great height. The airbed is a little heavy in its included carry bag. We felt the bag could be of slightly better quality and simple to close and carry. This is where they missed with the bed; however it is a minor issue with a superb product. The airbed is completely safe for people with a bad back. The selling point is of course the price at which it comes. But as for the comfort, just top it off a little before going to bed. Overall, it is a brilliant queen size airbed for travellers who love the comforts of a bed but the ease of a blow-up mattress.

Coleman Comfort Double Air Bed Review

Coleman Comfort Bed Double Airbed – Green

Air beds have become such an indispensable piece of kit for camping that it is hard to imagine spending nights at camping sites without them. In this review, we deal with an Air bed, green in colour and composition! Actually, we meant to say that the air bed is eco-friendly and free of harmful phthalates, like the one manufactured by Coleman, whose products have been inspiring outdoor enthusiasts for well over 100 years. Continue reading the review to know more about the Comfort Double Air bed from Coleman.

Design features:

The Coleman Comfort Bed Double Airbed combines extra comfort with substance and can happily accommodate two people at one time. The air bed comes in a nice green colour and is perfect for use either at home, caravanning or camping. One of the most impressive features about the bed is the dual air chamber (preferable to liposuction), a separate two way air valve which is more of an individual preference, as it allows both people select and define their own level of firmness. The feature thus reduces motion and makes sure you have a relaxing night’s sleep without disturbing the other person. Now, what it also does is that it gives you separate air chambers on either side of the airbed, so this means there is ample room for two persons to move comfortably without rolling (roll-together) and bumping into each other while sleeping.

Thick & puncture resistant PVC:

As for its construction, the Coleman Comfort air bed is made of thick, puncture resistant PVC which we may know from use is highly durable and also non-allergenic. Weighing 3.5 kg, the air bed boasts Coleman’s special heavy-duty PVC formula, which is 15% more puncture-resistant than the competition.  Therefore, you can put the bed on a quite hard surface and enjoy the luxury of air filled comfort. The exclusive heavy-duty PVC construction of the airbed along with the airtight system makes sure it does not loses air too quickly and guarantees a leak proof air bed. The thickness of PVC at the bottom is 0.4mm. Equipped with a flocked top that is both soft to the touch as well as slip free, the thickness of flocked PVC on the top is 0.6mm that allows the air bed to hold up to 270kg and makes for luxurious comfort.

Internal coil structure:

The Internal coil structure is a special coil construction that not only delivers great comfort, but avoids any type of joint problems by keeping the body posture right. Therefore, people having a bad back, etc would feel the comfort of the airbed as it can conform to the contours of the body exceptionally well.

Airtight system:

Coming to the all important airtight system, the Coleman Comfort Double inflatable air bed features the patented Coleman Double Lock valve that could lock in air two ways for a leak-proof performance for the life of the bed mattress. We found the bed still inflated in the morning, which has not been the case with other cheap airbeds, due to the brilliant valve system. Just for your information, it went for a whole weekend without having to top it up. On one occasion we used the Airbed camping for three nights, it was blown up on the first day and as we had anticipated, it stayed completely inflated for three nights without losing air too quickly. You will find that there is a valve for one side in the pillow position and the other is on the end. It is also quick and easy to inflate & deflate and the air stays put.  Use the Coleman electric pump to fill the airbed which you can do it in a matter of few seconds. It deflates easily and we even managed to put it back in the box.

Phthalate free airbed:

The Coleman Comfort Double air bed is also amongst some of the most Phthalate free beds on the market which is kinder to you and your family and more eco-friendly too. And for those who do not know what the Phthalate stuff is all about, it is a harmful chemical agent (plasticizer) that is used to soften the bed to make them more flexible. Though in actual, they are readily biodegradable and less toxic in nature, they do pose a certain risk to human health or the environment we live in. That’s all about Phthalate in the shortest of words.

Accessories:

There is a handy polyester carry bag with handle included in the pack, large enough to carry the air bed. So storing it away after use is not a problem at all. The Coleman bed is supplied with a puncture repair kit too, should you have a puncture to fix at the camping site.

Warranty:

The double air bed is covered under a manufacturer warranty of 12 months, so that you have more peace of mind buying the product.

Package Contents:

1 x Coleman Comfort Bed Double Airbed
1 x Carry bag

In a nutshell:

Measuring 188 cm x 137 cm x 22 cm, the specialty of the bed of course is that the separately inflatable chambers work brilliantly as you can inflate your side independently to the other which means that if one of you gets off, there is no ripple effect. Also, we found there is no roll effect as such if one is a restless sleeper. Having said that, some customers have complained that the plastic inlet for the smaller side on top of the sleeping surface is very uncomfortable as it is either under your shoulder or your calves and does not work that good at times. The bed gets dirty pretty easily and is not easy to wipe clean. Also, check the size before you buy the bed as it is lot smaller compared to many air beds. The pros by far outweighs the cons and coming in at a decent price, you will have no regrets using the airbed again or even using it indoors as an emergency bed if you need later. For all these, you need not have to worry about the bed refill. And as a bonus, the bed has something to offer for all the environment conscious people too!
