If you are looking for an air bed that mimics the feel of a real bed then the Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Air bed from Intex should be on the top of the list. The Airbed has featured in our website this week because of the many positive reviews it has received from the customers. We did not fail to do a smoke test on the air bed to validate its positive points. The following review is an account of the various features that we found useful in terms of comfort and performance.
Airbed from the world of Intex:
A better way to start the review is to learn something about the manufacturer. Intex has earned a reputation of offering quality Home and camping Airbeds at reasonable prices. Their constant development efforts and testing of airbeds with nearly 40 years of operating experience have produced quite a number of airbeds, the most popular of which is the Supreme Air-Flow Airbed. The Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Airbed (Product code: 66961/E) is more than just an inflatable mattress. The unique engineering technique adopted by Intex gives you a stunning level of comfort for a luxurious sleep.

Construction:
The top and sides of the bed mattress is made of special network of interconnected air cells that allows air to build smoothly and gradually over the entire sleeping surface of the bed. The large air chamber gives the sleeper the much needed comfort and stability creating a soft cushion, a remarkable departure from several other inflatable beds. The top of the mattress is flocked with a 20.8-gauge waterproof surface that is quality tested with 15-gauge vinyl beams and 16-gauge super-tough sides and bottom for firmness. The gauge of the coils is one factor which determines the toughness and support of the airbed. The 15 Gauge I-Beams is a special construction that has several numbers of I-beams and coil beams distributed for a highly tough but lightweight bed. In simple terms, it has I-beams in the bottom chamber and coil beams in the upper chamber surrounded sideways by a layer of interconnected air cells.
Raised height of 20 inches:
The Queen-size Supreme bed mattress at a dimension of 60 by 20 by 80 inches (W x H x D) is raised 20” (51cm) from the floor for convenience when fully inflated, making it pretty taller than other inflatable mattresses. This allows you to make it like a regular bed with fitted sheets and blankets. Another advantage of the raised height of the airbed is that it can insulate you from the effects of cold floor and it gets much easier when you have to get into and out of the bed. The website of Intex also lets you to download the product manuals and videos, should you have any doubts or clarification regarding the set up.
Dual chamber structure:
One of the most impressive features of the Intex Queen Size Supreme Air-Flow Self inflating Air Bed is the dual chamber construction. When you move on the bed, your partner’s movements do not transfer in a fashion which is common on other airbeds. And just to add to this, if you sit on the sides of the bed and in the middle, the sides will not collapse but stay firm to its shape. We actually love the split chamber design that lets the top sheet to tuck between the top and bottom of air chambers giving you a somewhat closer experience to a bed mattress. The integration of a thin mattress pad under the sheets will help toward eliminating the ‘air mattress’ feeling. Some of the people who have slept on it described that they found the airbed as comfortable and relaxing as a traditional box spring and mattress.
Easy to inflate:
The best claim is that the Air-flow bed is fairly easy to inflate and deflate, courtesy the in-built, recessed 110-120 AC high powered electric pump which can inflate the bed in a mere 3-1/2 minutes. This means you do not have to struggle with foot pumps or tiring hands or search around the garage for your detached electric pump. And should the bed feel a bit soft or firm, the comfort level of the bed can be customized with just the touch of a button. The other day we added a little more air with just the flip of the switch. Interestingly, the cosy flocked fabric mattress accepts standard queen sheets perfectly. The sheets also fit neatly over the pump and the cord stores compactly. The mattress comes with an AC power cord that you can keep it plugged in for easily pumping it up and down. Just make sure you also have an inverter with you.
Alternate Size & Weight capacity:
The airbed also comes in Twin size with a dimension of 75″ (L) x 39″ (W) x 20″(H) of weight capacity around 300-lb in case you prefer a smaller version of the airbed.

Duffel shoulder bag
Instruction Manual
Storage & Transportation:
The Airbed comes in a light grey colour with a load capacity of 600 lbs (273 kg). While the built-in pump makes inflating and deflating the bed a breeze, the bed folds down itself compactly and goes into the Duffel shoulder bag for protective storage between uses.
Use & Care:
The bed has to be washed using only mild soap and water with a sponge or soft bristled brush. It should only be air dried after a thorough rinse. Never submerse the bed into the water. Sometimes, water saturation may be harmful to certain materials used in the manufacture of the bed. Washing the airbed in the washing machine may cause damage to the bed as well as the washing machine.
Manufacturer Warranty:
The Intex Queen Size Airbed has no warranty (bit of a disappointment!), but comes with a 30 day return policy from the date of delivery if the manufacturer’s return policy conditions are being met.
Verdict:
Though we are a satisfied customer, the airbed seems to have a few negatives, one of which is there is noticeable air loss during the night, particularly if two people sleep on it. Therefore, you need to pump it slightly each day you use the bed. Another complaint is that it tends to be slightly cold at times and one has to put some sort of insulator between the air mattress and sheet, though it is raised to a great height. The airbed is a little heavy in its included carry bag. We felt the bag could be of slightly better quality and simple to close and carry. This is where they missed with the bed; however it is a minor issue with a superb product. The airbed is completely safe for people with a bad back. The selling point is of course the price at which it comes. But as for the comfort, just top it off a little before going to bed. Overall, it is a brilliant queen size airbed for travellers who love the comforts of a bed but the ease of a blow-up mattress.
